Better Teachers Narrow The Achievement Gap

 
Mayan Consulting Inc. provides a variety of workshops for the purpose of raising student academic achievement.  In existence since 1996, Mayan Consulting, Inc. has been assisting districts, private entities and universities.

Led by a team of experienced educators, Mayan Consulting is familiar with the educational landscape of California’s diverse student population.  Our team is prepared to assist any educational institution meet the accountability standards that are demanded in today’s high stakes learning environment.
 
Led by Cristina Alfaro, Ph.D, staff development sessions are always informative, engaging and relevant.  Dr. Cristina Alfaro has been with San Diego State University since 1985 to the present.  Prior to her association with SDSU she was an elementary school teacher and administrator with San Diego Unified School District.  She has been the director of International Programs in the Policy Studies Department at San Diego State University for the past 20 years.  Students in her SDSU classes are sought after by county districts due to the professional development she provides prior to them getting into the teaching profession.  Over the years, student evaluations consistently rate Dr. Alfaro as an innovative and motivational force in their careers.
 
Vice-President, Tony Alfaro, provides 39 years of experience in the field of secondary education. His work as a teacher, counselor and administrator provides clients with a wealth of information, which in turn supports the work of raising student achievement and closing the achievement gap.  His expertise provides insights to be able to overcome the challenges of raising student achievement in Middle and High Schools, particularly in low socio economic areas.
